GM is going to release a CUV version of the Bolt. In China, they’re calling it the Menlo:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Given how GM stuck the Blazer name on a ‘meh’ CUV that didn’t live up to the name, what historical Chevy
model name
would be most inappropriate for a
CUV version of the Bolt?
My pick would be El
Camino.

You shut your filthy mouth!
Crap, it's totally something they would do too.

Menlo? As in “Wizard of Menlo Park”? If so that’s kind of s trange since Edison was buddies with Henry Ford.

And for extra salt in the wound, it would be FWD!

I can see them bastardizing the Nomad name at some point.

Extreme or Typhoon

Yeah, but that Duramax though...

Not exactly a Chevrolet name but, as a Holden badge, it’s damn close:
Torana

Hmm.
How mental would it be to call it the Beretta LTX. the LTX means... uh, L... L uxury Touring.. . Xtreme.

I think using the Commodore or Monaro
names
would give many pain as well.
![]() 08/14/2019 at 18:54 |

And then they’d rename the current Duramax engine something like “Ecotec D”

Commodore is still in use on the RoW Regal.
Monaro would sting too. Honestly, though...Holden are not THAT stupid.
They are in enough shit as it is...

Xtreme I don’t care about. But if they use Typhoon:

*sigh*
Undoubtedly.

I’m trying to think of a historical GM model name that hasn’t been already sullied by some garbage car and...
I’ve got nothing, sorry.

Actually I think Greenbriar wouldn’t be a bad name. And most people won’t even know what the original Greenbriar was.
But I don’t think they’ll use that name since it doesn’t sound modern enough.

And I also noticed that Holden sells way less and has way less market share compared to 10 years ago in Australia.

Yes...they finding it hard to convince Australians to buy indifferent GM RoW product from Europe and Korea (both of which GM have largely abandoned) and their US sourced SUVs are not really fit for purpose against better made, featured and often priced Euro and Asian equivalents.
Worst is the Thai manufactured Colorado /Trailblazer which is in the market leading dual cab ute arena and perhaps doing the best of their product. Unfortunately, it’s ancient, Isuzu are no longer a development partner and GM doesn’t have a development partner for the next one...and the Isuzu/Mazda team up will be here next year and the twinned Ford Ranger/VW Amarok in 2021 as will the new Nissan/Mitsubishi/Renault dual cab.
Holden also doesn’t have a source of content to replace the Opel/Vauxhall derived cars like Astra and Commodore (Buick Regal) when their time comes . Unless GM China plays along and there’s no real prospect of that....
